Over the years, my graphic design experience has included work for package design and marketing in the pharmaceutical industry, silk screen designs for t-shirts and merchandising, illustrations for custom corporate gifts, developing logos and vector graphics, and being part of a marketing team designing for internal and retail marketing for the financial industry. I also have experience being a project coordinator for DIY websites and photoshoots for a large corporation. Please read below where I have highlighted the most current companies and accomplishments in my career.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
DesignWay, LLC: This is my own company. I produce a variety of projects from graphic design to illustration, for small to mid sized businesses. Such as logos, posters, banners, ads, booklets, icons, business stationary and custom illustrations for use in literature, presentations and corporate gifts. I am also a Reiki Master Teacher (RMT) conducting classes and workshops at various centers in New Jersey.
LexisNexis Martindale Hubble: I was hired as a consultant to be part of a team for a special project in the company's WebVis division. LexisNexis needed to convert over a thousand outdated websites over to a newer platform, as the company was planning to upgrade their servers and the older websites would no longer be compatible. These were DIY (template) websites and the clients were attorneys from various fields of the law, located nationally. My team's role was to work with these law firms, who were being offered a free upgrade.
This required fluent communication through email and phone conversations for creative briefs, accessing the client's website needs and template selection, conveying the client's content needs to our writing staff and implementing their imagery preferences. All within the template and product guidelines. I managed each client account from the start to the launching of their website. For the basic layout of the website, I created a custom banner image, generated the sitemap, applied any requested changes upon initial review and instructed the client how to manage their site after it was live. I also assisted clients with questions regrading their account or who were experiencing technical issues with their site.
There were three stages for this unique project. I participated in the the 2nd stage and was requested back for the 3rd and final stage. My team exceeded expectations and completed the daunting project a month ahead of schedule, when initial deadline projections suggested we would barely make our goal, only if there were no major obstacles.
BlackRock: I was a staff graphic designer and illustrator, using the applications of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. A position was created and I became the coordinator for the photography needs for our marketing materials. These photo sessions were high volume in the amount of head shots and images needed in a restricted time frame. Besides working to secure a location, a photographer and the subjects of the photo shoot within their time table, I developed systems to keep schedules organized and the subjects satisfied with the final photo selected for use. I used Photoshop extensively, for cleaning up and enhancing images as needed. I also updated and kept the image library current.
This position expanded to include candid and group photos for use in internal and outside publications. I became the main contact in BlackRock for photo requests, clearance on the use of the photo, as well as reviewing and renewing copyright usage for the custom imagery in our photography archive.
My illustration skills were also widely used for a diversity of projects. I have done numerous custom caricatures that were framed and presented to senior advisors as gifts to celebrate retirement, promotions or milestones. I also created custom illustrated cards for special events. A special illustration assignment was for BlackRock's 20th Anniversary with a "family" tree highlighting the company's growth. This illustration was used on numerous memorabilia, and it was framed and displayed in all BlackRock offices worldwide.
Merrill Lynch/Merrill Lynch Investment Managers: I was hired as a part time contractor, then eventually asked to become a full time employee as a graphic designer and illustrator. One highly visible project I worked on was for a large marketing campaign "See the Big Picture". This was during a time when investor confidence in the investment industry was shaken due to the historical plunge of the stock market. We needed to illustrate how the market has rebounded before from major setbacks due to major world events, rising up stronger than ever. Working closely with a fellow colleague, we developed the visual of a mountain chart, using actual data of the market's progress over a span of 100 years. We then implemented a montage of researched imagery marking important people and events noted on the mountain chart's timeline. The imagery selection involved heavy research and working within a set budget. It was a hugely successful marketing tool that had numerous reprints and positive feedback from the sales force, financial advisors and senior directors.
